Mark 9:36-37
He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him
in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever
welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and
whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
The Holy Smokes BBQ Competition will be a

About Alabama Children's Home:
Alabama
Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries continues its
117-year-old tradition of nurturing children, youth and their
families to become productive, Christ-like citizens. Yet, today you
will find a ministry vastly different from the one the Rev. John W.
Stewart founded in Evergreen, Alabama.
God continues to remold and reshape
the Children's Homes & Family Ministries to meet the rapidly
changing needs of children, youth and their families statewide. As a
result, personalized, comprehensive services ensure that the
ministry is equipped to help more individuals and families, in more
ways and in more places than ever before.
Molding lives in a loving,
Christ-honoring manner requires more than good intentions. Under
God's direction, Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family
Ministries plans and sets goals to ensure wise stewardship. The
ministry's partnerships with Alabama churches, Baptist associations,
community groups and individuals ensure that plans and goals are
accomplished.
The Children's Homes & Family Ministries seeks to accomplish its
mission - to protect, nurture and restore children and families
through Christ-centered services - by focusing on four important
areas of service:
* Homes for Children (Campuses, Group Homes, Emergency Shelters and
Foster Care)
* Education Services and Family Assistance
* Professional Counseling
* Administration that Maximizes Resources
The Children's Homes provides homes
for children and youth at campuses in Decatur and Mobile, and at
group homes in Mobile, Dothan, Gardendale, Oxford and Alabaster. The
Children's Homes also licenses, trains, and further equips foster
families who provide care in their homes for children and youth.
In 2005, Alabama Baptist Children's
Homes exceeded the number of children in care in 2004, when:
